Choosing the Right Compression Level

JOBST Relief is available in three compression levels to suit different compression requirements. The appropriate pressure level depends on your individual condition and should be selected with guidance from your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare professional.

15-20mmHg:
Provides lighter graduated compression and may be suitable for people who have been advised to use mild compression for leg comfort, tired or aching legs, or swelling.

20-30mmHg:
Provides moderate graduated compression and may be recommended for conditions such as varicose veins, swelling and other venous conditions where this level of compression is appropriate.

30-40mmHg:
Provides very firm graduated compression and may be recommended for more significant venous or lymphatic conditions, including chronic venous insufficiency, severe varicose veins, severe oedema or lymphoedema, venous ulcers and post-thrombotic syndrome.

Open Toe or Closed Toe?

Choose the style that best suits your individual needs and comfort preferences.

Open Toe: Provides greater freedom around the toes and can be a practical option for people who prefer an open design or additional breathability.

Closed Toe: Features a roomy toe allowance to provide extra space for toe movement while keeping the foot fully covered.

If you're unsure which style is more appropriate, our pharmacy team can help you choose based on your compression needs and personal preferences.

Suitable For

Depending on the compression level recommended by your healthcare professional, JOBST Relief Knee High may be used as part of compression therapy for:

  • Chronic venous insufficiency

  • Varicose veins

  • Leg swelling and oedema

  • Lymphoedema

  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) when compression has been recommended

  • Post-thrombotic syndrome

  • Venous ulcers

  • Orthostatic or postural hypotension

  • Other conditions where graduated compression therapy is appropriate

Important Information

The correct compression level and size are important for both comfort and effective compression. 30-40mmHg is a very firm level of compression, so professional advice is particularly important before use.

If you're unsure which compression level, size or toe style is right for you, speak with your doctor, lymphoedema clinician or pharmacist before purchasing. Always follow the advice of your healthcare professional when using compression therapy.
